The race course is different during fleet racing and match racing. During match racing, it is simple, tactical and banana-shaped. The windward mark is rounded to starboard and there is a leeward gate.
During fleet races, the windward mark is rounded to port. There is also a dog leg at the top mark and a leeward gate at the bottom of the course. Competitors can choose to round either one of the leeward marks.
