In 1937, the last America’s Cup J Class yacht to be built, was launched at Bath Iron Works, in Maine, USA. Ranger was owned and skippered by Harold Vanderbilt who successfully defended the America’s Cup as Skipper on three occasions in 1930, 1934, and 1937. He is one of only three skippers to win the America’s Cup three times. Ranger comprehensively defeated Endeavour II 4-0 and was scrapped in 1941, only four years after being built…
